Deidre Hubbard
FRBS
Deidre
studied at Harvard University, working with Theodore
Feininger, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1957 and
winning the Sohier Prize. She studied with Willi Soukop
and Bernard Meadows from 1957 – 60 and in the
sculpture studio of Elisabeth Frink from 1962 –
64.
Deidre creates bronzes
which have real immediate sensual quality to them,
often formed from interlocking units. Typically inspired
by the female form they have a quiet, timeless elegance
about them. Frequently using harmonious series of
convex and concave figures linking together, Hubbard
creates synergistic, timeless sculptures displaying
grace and elegance. Often highly polished her work
is particularly engaging, frequently reaching out
to be touched and appreciated.
Deidre has exhibited
at many leading British Art Galleries including:
The Royal Academy, London: National Museum of Wales;
St Paul’s Cathedral, London; Usher Gallery,
Lincoln; Towner Gallery, Eastbourne; Penwith Galleries,
