Derek Hare was born in South Shields, on the North East Coast of England, and his affinity to the sea and air, which form the basis of most of his paintings, was instilled in him from the very beginning.

Working mainly in oils, his style contains unique facets of technique with which he is able to convey the feeling of the effects of light and air, the boundlessness where sky and horizon melt into one.

His clients cover a broad spectrum of international institutions and corporations, galleries and private collections.
